In temporal, durational terms, disintegrity study occurs without definition. It was happening, is still happening, and will continue to happen. Its exploration is not, though, around the possibilities for the performance of longevity, but a consideration of the idea that a relationship to the lithic is always a relationship to the temporal and how this similarly overlaps with a notion of performance also defined by distinct temporal interactions. In this way, it is an exploration of chalk’s disintegrity inside a framework of ‘ongoingness’, whereby the performance boundaries are porous – the performance always and already being performed in the present continuous tense.
