HC. Krempels is a writer, artist and performance-maker working at the intersection of environmental philosophy and performance/art praxis. His ongoing doctoral research at CREAM, University of Westminster, is in onto-epistemologically relational performance with the lithic other, chalk. As an artist he has worked across film, theatre, photography and audio and was the founder of London-based, Theatre Anima, a collective working in the realms of experimental performance and interested in the relationship between ‘inner’ and ‘outer’.
The body of work ‘Performance (of) Encounters’ explores the gestural interactions of the human body when in self-conscious relationship to the nonhuman and the material. Drawing from New Materialism and ecofeminist ethics this work looks to subvert the occularcentric and objectifying methods of scientism in the performative processes of practice, re/enlivening the relationship through embodied and embedded interactivity.
