the smell (2020)

The Smell is a narrative play told through a perspex box. Overnight, a smell invades a town and no-one knows where it has come from, nor why it’s here. The people of the town takes steps to protect themselves from the outside and everything that comes with it. An exploration of that which is intangible, yet ever-present, The Smell was due to be performed at the Pleasance Theatre, London in March 2020 but was cancelled due to the intangible, yet ever-present COVID pandemic. In its place, then, a 30 minute video performance for a theatre festival shot by an artistic ‘bubble’, exploring fear of (and from) the outside.
